Putting the Fun In Funeral

$

Strange name for a blog post I know but I recently had to purchase a black dress to wear to a funeral when I realised all my clothes are unsuitable for such a sad day. I ordered 2 dresses from Asos curve and chose this one to wear on the day but kept the other as I loved it and will blog about it later. As is always the case when it comes to swing dresses from Asos I sized down. This time to a 22 and could probably have gone with a 20.

I wore this dress minus the collar to the funeral and felt pretty smart and comfortable. I didn't want to just keep this dress for funerals so have added the collar and my Clarks Leopard Brogues and a Leopard belt to jazz it up a little. I love this look and always a fan of black and white this shall be worn many times.

Franklin makes his debut on the blog today in his lovely Spider Man onesie. He is doing well with his oxygen and should hopefully be off it by the end of this month. Keep your fingers crossed! He has had a lot of problems with heartburn and had a urine infection which hindered his growth and has him not taking bottles as he knows they cause him pain. He is back on track and growing well and we just need to get him back on bottles!

If you are a Steps fan you may get the reference in the title and if not just have a look at the video at the end! This dress is from the Claire Richards Range and it is just gorgeous! I have liked quite a few of her pieces from the previous range but this is the first I have tried.

This is not a dress I would normally got for. Lace and the shape are never really my first choice but I have to say this dress is beautiful! It has a good weight to the fabric and the lace is so soft and not at all itchy. This is a quality dress and worth the money. I don't usually say that so when I do you know I mean it!

I wore this to my good friend Rebs 30th birthday party on Saturday and got lots of compliments on it and a lot of people actually new it was from the Claire Richards Range. The under layer is a thick stretchy lovely light blue and the lace is navy. The sleeves a great length and are sheer so you get the delicate feel but with coverage if you don't like showing your arms and you don't have to use a cardi to cover them and end up hiding the beautiful dress.

I sized up to a 26 for this shape as I have a large belly and bum. The bigger size was the right choice as it was perfect. It was not super skin tight and had a lovely shape. If you have not seen any of Claires Range then I suggest you head over to Fashion World to have a look as there is something for everyone and the quality is really good.

Dressolution Challenge #1

I was contacted by Marisota to take part in the Challenge below and not one to turn up a challenge I jumped and this is one of the items I chose. Their clothes range from sizes 12-32.

I am no stranger to swing dresses but I am new to tapestry print. I always think of Mary Poppins magical bag when I think of tapestry and it is not something I would normally choose but this being a challenge I wanted to try new things and have to say I am a convert! This is a digital print of tapestry but has an almost moleskin feel to it which it a nice change! I have added a belt to give it a bit of shape but will wear it without also no doubt.

It comes in 3 lengths and I opted for the petite 33 inch length which is great for me but if you are taller than my 5'3'' you may want to go for the 35 or 37 inch version. This is my first item from Marisota and I have 2 other items to show you from this Challenge and I am loving what I have seen so far from them.

I was going to save this gorgeous dress for Valentines Day but I just couldn't wait! Plus today being Burns Night and me being Scottish I figured the tartan background of the dress was perfect for today too!

The dress is a thick tshirt material and true to size. It is a good length and very comfortable.
I love the rose print and think it has an almost Vintage look to it. I can see this being a new favourite in my wardrobe.

Have you thought about your Valentines Day outfit yet? Check out the Yours Clothing website and stores for great affordable outfits for special occasions and everyday.

Shape Vs Normal

With this post I wanted to share with you my body shape and how clothes look on me if I was to wear it at my waist where a skirt should normally be worn. How my shape makes clothes look strange on me and how I give myself a different shape by wearing a skirt under my bust and using this as my waist for dresses.

Below is how I wear this outfit. Pulled up to my bust and tucked in to make my bust the main focus. Not that you could miss it but I like this shape. See how I style this outfit in my next blog post tomorrow!

Here I have untucked the top and a lot of people will wear it like this and it looks fine but I have become more of a box shape.

This is my actual waist and it is not straight so thing sit at a slant on my body. My bum raises the back which I do not like. My belly is is a Double Belly (DB) and goes in at my belly button. I have no problem showing my belly and having a Visible Belly Outline (VBO) in bodycon dresses but for this style of skirt I prefer it like the top picture.

Untucked and again people will wear an outfit like this and be happy with it but I just wanted to show how the same two items can look so different when you change your positions of wearing them.

See what a difference it makes to the shape of the outfit. This can work for any style skirt and top so give it a go with some of your items and take a few pics to compare and see what you like best. Leave a link in the comments if you blog about your own shape and how it changes.

The recent Clements Ribeiro range for Evans was quite smart casual compared to the previous ranges and I had my eye on these pieces from the start. A top and skirt which were originally £45 each which works out at £90 for what is basically a dress and I do not spend that much on a dress ever! I am pretty cheap when it comes to clothes so waited for the sales knowing I would get it cheaper. I managed to get both items for £10 each! They are still available HERE so grab yourself a bargain!

The material is a thick stretchy tshirt fabric and very comfortable to wear and hopefully washes well too! I can see me wearing this a lot! Sorry for the muted colours but its just too dark to get good quality pictures just now that do the clothes justice.

The print is gloves/hands and is quite retro which I love!

(sized up as I didn't want the print to distort over my bust with stretch)

Minnie Valentine

If being a sexy Minnie Mouse for Valentines Day is wrong then I don't want to be right! Being the month of all things LOVE I decided to do this post. Not my usual but I am all for trying new things. For those ladies with the larger bust that find it difficult to get sexy bra and panties sets this is a great alternative. You have all the support of your usual bra but the sexy babydoll over it!

This one is super cute with polka dots and sheer. I went for the 26/28 as I wanted it loose and it is just as I had hoped. It is stretchy and has good bust coverage and straps like a bra does to alter the length. I love the pink ribbon detail and as you can see my Minnie ears and bow went perfectly. The hubby took these pics and was very much a fan of this outfit.

It is comfortable, sexy and available at Yours Clothing. Go and have a peek and grab yourself something sexy for this Valentines Day even if it is just for you and not to share with a partner. Every woman needs a sexy outfit so feel amazing in.

Zenni Glassesporn

Recently I was introduced to Zenni Optical and have to say I am so impressed with the range of frames they have on offer! Lots of my favourite Cateye styles and so many colours! Best of all they are all pretty much under $30 (around £20)

I ordered these two beautiful frames and prices include lenses. The took 16 days to arrive which I don't think is bad at all. It is easy to order on the website with a current prescription. You will need your puplilary distance which you can get measured at your next eye exam or get someone to measure is for you. Just measure in millimetres the distance from the centre of each pupil to the other while looking at something straight ahead and quite for away.

The glasses come in cute plastic cases and with decorated picture cleaning cloths. I had never seen this before so was super excited to have these delivered with the glasses. I will be ordering more from Zenni as they have so many frames I would love and at a price a can afford to get a couple at a time. I am all about the #glassesporn ! lol

There is a tree design on the green case that is mirrored on the image inside.

Super cute picture cleaning cloths!

Beautiful Cateye frame and Polka Dot frame!!

As you may or may not have noticed, I have a new header for the blog! I am super excited about it as it is drawn by the awesome Russ aka @ihateyurguts instagram. He has a great talent for art and his fat tattooed ladies have been a favourite of mine for some time. I commissioned this piece from him last week and I love it to bits!

If you would like to commission him just sent him a message on instagram and I am sure he will be happy to help out for a fee. Check him out on instagram!

Pretty Flowers

Stepping up the Valentines Day pretty dress month with this beauty from Yours Clothing!  I call this colour of dress naked because if it was plain I would look naked from a distance. The flowers make this not a problem and the print is so pretty. The sleeve length is good and I love the neckline and overall length of the dress too. It is a lovely thick tshirt material with lots of stretch and oh so comfortable. Another of the lovely Vintage look dresses Yours Clothing has in just now. It is long enough for me to wear these shapewear shorts underneath to prevent the dreaded chub rub!

I was looking for a pair of high waist shorts for summer so I don't have to wear leggings and these have a pretty lace part at the bottom. I went for the size 28 as I didn't want them tight like shapewear normally is. I wanted comfort but could have went for the size 26 easily. I will be stocking up on these for Summer.

If you missed my first Challenge then you can see it HERE! For my second choice I have gone with the same style dress but in a bold print that is super cute! This dress again comes in 3 lengths and is of a moleskin feel but on the inside is a slinky silky feel. These dresses wash really well and don't crease and dry super fast. I wish more dresses were made from this fabric as it is fuss free and obviously can be printed in any design!

One more Challenge to come from me! Keep an eye out for it.

Happy Birthday To Me

As the title say it was my Birthday! I am the ripe old age of 34! Age is just a number and I have no problem being any age. People say act your age and dress for your age but I think both these things are rubbish! Don't act, just Be! I dress however I feel! I think these are both good things and have served me well so far.

Anyways onto the outfit! I wore this beautiful Simply Be Luxe Prom dress from the new collection to my Birthday meal with friends and just all round awesome people! We went to Damons a Rib place in Sheffield near Crystal Peaks. If you ever have the chance to go then order the Onion Loaf ( it is not bread! Just so you are not disappointed).

This dress is just gorgeous! It is the same style as the Poppy Print one they had a while back. You can see my posts about that dress HERE. It is a thick shirt like material with stretch which makes it super comfy and less prone to creases.  I loved the colour combo and modern but also vintage feel to the print with the flowers. Plus polka Dots! Whats not to love really!

The bag is Doctors Bag style which I love and has a removable long strap. The black and cream means it will go with most things and has lots of room for all the stuff us ladies tend to carry around and never use.

How cute are these shoes! The are a platform sole so look higher than they are and are available in E and EEE wide fit. I always have to size down from a 6 to a 5 when I wear wide fit shoes. These are very forgiving as they have the adjustable ankle straps. Can I just say I have never been able to wear ankle straps as they have never been big enough to fit around. These have plenty room and can't wait to rock them this summer as sadly the weather stopped me wearing them out for dinner. They also come in Tan!

I have to give a massive THANK YOU to Simply Be!

Bonnie Bon Bon

The Bon Bon refers to the large polka dots that remind of the yummy sweets! The Bonnie refers to Bonnie Parker of Bonnie &Clyde. Loving the tv special at the moment! I do not have the urge to go rob a bank but I do feel super sexy and vintage in the gorgeous dress. It is super stretchy and a thick sleek material that holds its shape well and should wash good too. This is my first peplum item and it is rather cute. The v neck is not too deep but I am wearing a bad bra that sits high. Great length and lovely sleeves that are not too tight.

All in all I am really impressed with this dress! So much so that I have ordered another from the collection at Bonmarche. Yes I said Bonmarche! I have have been having a good look through the website HERE and there are some really beautiful things. The David Emanuel Collection has some fab vintage look dresses and coats plus your basics. If this dress is anything to go by then quality is also great. Prices are not bad either! Sale items even better!!!

The bag is large and has two sections to keep thing organised. The length of the shoulder strap is good even for fat arms and the black pipe edges is a great detail and contrast to the white.

99p Yours Clothing Dress

I was one of the lucky ones to get a 99p dress from Yours Clothing thanks to The Daily Mail Online offer! There were a few to choose from and I knew I had to have the spots plus it came with a cute red belt that fits! There are not enough red belts for fats. I want a variety of styles so can someone please make those asap.

The dress is a thick stretchy tshirt material and super comfy. I have a few of these skater dresses from Yours and love them. They are always a good length on my 5'3'' frame and the sleeves on this are a longer length which is a nice detail. The neck has a rounded collar which is a nice finish.

I wore it with my Yours Cowboy Boots. I did a review of the Black ones HERE and loved them so much I just had to get the Brown too! These boots are just fab. Go get them before they are all gone as they are in the SALE now! They are wide fit so size down as they are usually much larger.

Sorry for the blurry pictures! I think my camera is dying.

What Being A Fat Woman Is Really Like! Cosmo Questions Answered

$

Claire posted the challenge on Twitter to answer these Cosmo Questions HERE and link up to see what others had to say and if they have similar answers or if we are all different. I loved the idea so these are my answers.

How do you feel when other women around you complain about feeling/being fat?

It used to really bother me because the women were usually a lot smaller than myself but now I am happy with my body and size and I really don't care. I just wish they loved their bodies and were as happy as I am.

How has your body image changed since high school? College?

I hated my body from a young age. I was always the fat kid. Always on some stupid diet and even trying diet pills. They all worked but as soon as the diet ended I would pile the weight back on and more. A vicious cycle. Now I eat what I want and when I want. I don't judge myself for the choices I make. I am much happier now.

Have you tried dieting? What happened?

(See above)

Do you think in your case your weight is partly or entirely genetic?

here are fat members of my family and there are skinny members. It is mostly down to my lifestyle and food choices.

Do you consider yourself healthy? Have there been instances where people assumed you were unhealthy?

Overall I am a healthy. When it comes to food choices I eat fruit and veg and don't add sugar to drinks and always drink diet options. I also eat cake and chocolate. Everything in moderation. Being fat most people assume you are unhealthy and eat chocolate all day. Which is not true in my case. My health and my size have nothing to do with each other in reality. I am type 2 diabetic which runs in my family and have been for 12 years. It has been under control for the past 11 years and was told this week and can stop taking medication as it is so well under control. I also take thyroxin for a thyroid condition which also runs in my family. Both these things have nothing to do with my size. I am unfit due to not being able to leave the house much with a baby on oxygen but not unhealthy. These things are not related in my opinion.

Are your parents both supportive of you at the weight you're at? Have they always been?

No and No! My mum was the fat kid and even at a size 12 she still thinks she is fat. Her issues were pushed onto me from a young age. My dad has a belly but is fit and he has the biggest issue with my weight. He is constantly telling me I need to diet and will die young. He was just last year trying to bribe me to get a gastric band operation. And even since having my son 7 months ago and taking 6 months for my C-section scar to heal due to my diabetes he still insists I should get the op! Crazy!!! I have tried to explain to them both that I am happy the way I am and don't want to lose weight but they just do not understand how I can be happy the size I am. That is their issue and not mine so I don't worry about it now.

How do you think retailers can improve clothes for plus-size people?

They need to ask plus size people what they want. Make different length and fit options. Use models of different shapes and sizes and not just the 6'3 size 12/14 model. Short and fatter! Get plus sizes back into stores so people can try things on and have a choice on the High Street again. Make plus sizes normal by making all clothes in the larger sizes and not having plus ranges! Which are usually aimed at older women and not all ages.

Do you think plus-size women are judged differently than plus-sized men are? How?

Both sexes are classed as lazy and unattractive for being fat which is just bollocks! Some of the most beautiful people I know are FAT! Everything in society is geared to hate fat people and it is wrong and needs to be shown for the bullshit it is.

Do you think there’s an assumption made/stereotype that exists about plus-size people? How would you respond to it?

As stated above and I respond by living my life the way I choose and taking no shit from anyone over my size. I treat people as I would like to be treated and same goes for how they treat me. If you give me abuse then I will give it back. I don't let anyone tell me how and what I should wear for my size. I get naked for body positive shoots to show people that you don't have to be a certain size and be unhappy if you are not a certain size. I support all body types and genders.

Do you think there’s ever a right way or time to express concern about someone’s weight?

People are not stupid! If they feel shit about their size then they will do something about it. It is not my place to tell them they should! If someone is ill looking from losing or putting on a drastic amount of weight in a short time I may suggest they see a doctor to make sure their is nothing serious wrong with them. Other health issues cam make this happen not just food intake.

What are the worst things people have said to you about your body?

Being the fat friend of all skinny girls and a teenager is hard! They boys all made jokes about my size and one even calling me a "beached whale" in front of a group of friends. Needless to say I was crushed and went home to sry for an hour. I was bullied by an older girl at high school until I elbowed her in the ribs as she walked past me in the hall. There will always be bullies! The sick sad asshole who take pleasure in humiliating others. I don't take it now. I fight back with words and call them out on being vile human beings. I don't get upset anymore I just fight back. I have the self respect to do it now and it feels so much better than crying for an hour saying why me!!!

What have people said (or do you wish they’d say) that would compliment your body or appearance?

My Gran always said "refuse nothing but blows!" I take any compliment given. I get lots of compliments now and I think it is due to me being happy with myself.
Do you find yourself hanging out with women who are closer to your size?

I have friends of all shapes and sizes. I have sought out fat friends and am happy to be part of a plus size community The Yorkshire Rad Fat Collective that puts on Plus Size Clothes Swaps and other Events.

How has your weight affected your sex life, if at all?

I have always had a very active sex life with many partners and my size bigger or smaller has no effect on it at all.

When you've been single, has your weight affected your dating life?

Only when I was young and unhappy about my size I never had boyfriends or dated. As soon as I was happy with my size I found it pretty easy to find dates. The most sexy thing is confidence and I am not shy about sex so never had any issues finding dates and sexual partners.

Do you feel weird if the guy you’re with only dates larger women?

Not at all. It is a preference. My preference is a shaved head and beard! Size does not bother me.

Do you feel weird if he's only dated slimmer women before you?

No. I have dated Very large people, average sized people and skinny people. Size is not an issue for me at all. I fall for someone based on their outlook on life, how they treat others and me, if they make me laugh and how good they make me cum! lol

An old saying that is bollocks! If Red & Green were good enough for Santa then it is good enough for me! I got this dress from Asda for £10. I love leopard print anyway and the green was a bit different. it is one of those fabrics that when stretched it goes white but this is a size 18 and it actually a bit large! Long in length and in the sleeves but hay it was TEN pounds!

Also check out my new spectacles! Polka dots god damn it! Ain't they just the cutest! One of two pair I got from Zenni Optical. I will be doing a proper post about them soon. My awesome Charcoal Designs Cherry necklace and the best of all my boy Franklin in a Christmas Onesie that totally goes with this outfit!
